Panels, Wiring and the Circuits a Modern House Needs

Older Columbus houses were wired for a few lamps and a radio. Here is the work that brings them up to how people live now.

  • Gray electrical panel on a plywood backer in a basement, metal conduit running up into the joists

    Panel Upgrades

Most of our work is swapping fuse boxes and 100-amp panels that were never meant to carry central air, an electric dryer and a modern kitchen. Opening the old panel often turns up worn grounding or old splices that need fixing too.

  • Three white drum pendants under a wood plank ceiling, fed by armored cable to black canopies

    Lighting and Ceiling Fans

Recessed cans, pendants and ceiling fans, hung on boxes rated for the weight and fed by circuits that can take the load. A fan hung from a plain light box is a common shortcut that works loose over time.

  • White outlet and light switch on a kitchen wall beside the counter, a toaster and a jar of wooden spoons

    Rewiring & Repair

Flickering lights, an outlet that went dead, a breaker that trips every evening. We trace the fault from the dead outlet or fixture back to the panel and fix the cause, and where old wiring runs through the house we lay out a partial or full rewire.

Panel Work Is Most of What We Do

Polaris Electric works in homes, rentals, shops, offices and restaurants across Columbus. A dead outlet gets the same care as a full panel change.

Frank Holcomb started the company in 2014 after learning the trade pulling cable through attics and crawl spaces on new Columbus houses, and he still starts every call with questions.
